A Tale of Resilience, Entrepreneurship, and Motherhood

Hi, I am Smriti Jain.
After emerging from an unhappy marriage, I confronted societal judgments. With a one-year-old child, I wanted to become financially self-sufficient.

Striving to support my child, I sought remote work due to breastfeeding commitments. Despite my MBA background and previous corporate experience, securing work-from-home opportunities was challenging. My parents offered unwavering support and prioritized my happiness over societal norms. Their encouragement provided me the strength to navigate this challenging phase. Balancing nocturnal work commitments with daytime childcare, I persevered. My determination enabled me to continue breastfeeding, savoring the bond with my child. Glimpses of my baby’s smiles during breastfeeding bolstered my resolve to overcome hurdles. I continued to breastfeed my child until he was 4 years old. Every challenge I encountered only fortified my determination to succeed.
I initiated a financial journey with a mere 5k, an investment in my aspirations. Slowly building momentum, I ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. Over time, I secured more clients and transformed my small digital marketing endeavour into a thriving agency. The growth was a testament to my resilience and dedication.
My journey served as a message to others: Divorce doesn’t signify defeat but an opportunity for personal growth. Achieving financial independence allowed me to make decisions on my terms, disregarding societal opinions. Today, I stand strong, immune to judgments from others. I’ve learned that my happiness is paramount, and it can be achieved without conforming to societal norms. Despite societal pressures, I emphasize that marriage isn’t a destination but a choice for personal fulfilment.
Content within myself, I’ve discovered that individual happiness surpasses external expectations.
Acknowledging the challenges I’ve faced; I recognize the worth of my journey. While the path isn’t still easy, it is undeniably rewarding and instrumental in shaping who I’ve become.
