Introduction and Where My Journey Began
I’m Bhavna. I completed my engineering and worked in the industry for almost two years before marriage. At that time, I thought my life path was pretty straightforward: study hard, build a stable career, and follow the trajectory that most people around me considered “right.” I enjoyed my work and believed that I would continue growing professionally in the corporate world.
But as life often does, it brought a new chapter with marriage, one that required me to pause, rethink, and eventually rediscover myself in a completely different way.
The Setbacks That Changed My Path
After my marriage, everything changed. My husband’s job required frequent transfers, which meant that continuing a stable career became incredibly difficult. Every time I thought I could settle somewhere and build some rhythm, we had to move again.
Slowly, I had to make peace with the fact that maintaining a conventional job wasn’t going to be possible for me.
This shift wasn’t easy. I had studied hard, done well academically, and started what I believed would be a long-term professional journey. Stepping away from that plan brought its own doubts and emotional struggles. I often questioned where I fit now and what I was meant to do with all the skills and creativity inside me.
But life has a way of nudging us toward our true calling sometimes gently, sometimes unexpectedly.
What Inspired Me to Turn Jewellery Making Into a Business
Even when I worked as an engineer, I always had a deep interest in fashion and creative arts. Designing jewellery was something I loved doing purely for myself. For ladies’ meets, family gatherings, or parties, I would make unique pieces just to match my outfits. It gave me joy, and people always complimented my work.

Whenever someone asked, “Do you sell these?” I would immediately respond, “No, this is just my hobby.” I never imagined that my small creativity could become something more.
One day at a ladies’ gathering, a friend of mine looked at the jewellery I was wearing and said something that changed everything for me:
“Bhavna, you really should sell this. We would love to buy pieces like these from you.”
That one line lit a spark. It was the first time someone expressed a genuine willingness to pay for what I created. It gave me the confidence and the push I didn’t even know I needed. Suddenly, the idea that had felt unrealistic became something I could imagine myself doing.
For the first time, I allowed myself to believe that perhaps my hobby had a place in the world, that maybe, just maybe, there were women out there who would value and enjoy what I create.
How I Started the Kuyri Hastkala Handmade Jewellery Business
With that encouragement, I finally decided to take the leap. I started an Instagram channel, Kuyri Hastkala and began sharing the handmade jewellery business I designed. It felt vulnerable at first, putting my work out there, not knowing how people would respond.
But slowly, the magic began.
People discovered my page, appreciated my designs, and started placing orders. Very soon, customised jewellery became the heart of my work. Each order became a story: brides looking for something unique, friends wanting matching pieces, women wanting jewellery that reflected their personality.

The more I created, the more my confidence grew.
Where I Am Now in Scaling My Handmade Jewellery Business
Today, my handmade jewellery business has grown far beyond what I had imagined when I first posted my designs. I now have another lady working with me, helping me fulfil increasing orders and allowing us to create even more unique pieces for our customers.

Kuyri Hastkala is no longer just a hobby or a small experiment; it has become a thriving business built from passion, resilience, and the courage to start from scratch.
My Plans for Expanding My Handmade Jewellery Business
From here, I want Kuyri Hastkala to grow even bigger. My dream is to keep creating jewellery that brings joy, confidence, and beauty to the women who wear it. I want to expand my designs, reach more customers, and continue making every client feel special with customised, handcrafted pieces.
My journey taught me that setbacks can redirect us to our true path, and I’m excited to see where this path leads next.
