Ceramic Birds: A Sister Duo’s Journey of Love, Family and Handmade Art

Ceramic Birds Handmade Ceramics with Love & Family

Hi, I am Rashi, the heart behind Ceramic Birds, and right beside me from the very first idea is my eldest sister and partner-in-crime, Akanksha aka Aku Di. And this is our story.

The Beginning of Something Beautiful

Some stories begin with a big plan. Ours began on a simple afternoon when a friend came home for tea. That is how my brand, Ceramic Birds, first took shape.

One sunny afternoon, a close friend dropped by my house. While we were talking, her eyes kept moving across my living room. They stopped on the small ceramic things I had collected over the years, tiny bowls, delicate cups, and little decorative pieces. She picked up a hand-painted bowl and smiled, “Yeh kitne cute hain! Mujhe bhi chahiye. Kahan se liye?”

Her excitement planted a seed in my mind. I had always loved ceramics, but I never thought about turning that love into anything more. Still, her question made me curious. How hard could it be to find a few lovely pieces?

Ceramic Birds First Steps: How Childhood Memories Shaped Our Journey

The next day, we started calling shops. That is when we found a problem we did not expect. Every shopkeeper told us the same thing: they only sold in bulk.

It felt like a small wall in front of us, but also like a small challenge.

Then I called my Mom, “Mummy, hum kahan jaate the saman lene Amma ke saath? Woh tedi wali shop joh hai uska kiya naam hai?” Her voice took me back to childhood times of narrow lanes and the warm smell of clay. I come from a city known for ceramics, so this love was always a part of me. Even in college, I made lampshades, earrings, and little pieces from ceramic tiles and beads.

It was as if ceramics had been quietly shaping my life for years.

Ceramic Birds Journey: A Door Opens to Our First Orders

I called the Tedi Wali shop. The shopkeeper knew our family, and he sent photos of his collection right away. His quick help surprised me. Soon, my friend placed an order, and then a few more friends joined in.

Before I knew it, we had our first small batch of orders. During Diwali, we even got a corporate order. It felt like magic; our little idea was bringing small joys into people’s homes.

After the festival, the orders slowed down. Days went by without a single message. I felt worried and asked myself, was this the end or only a new beginning?

Ceramic Birds Story: How Sisterhood Turned a Dream Into a Brand

Around that time, my sister joined me, Akanksha aka Aku Di. She’s not just my sister; she is my friend and now my full partner in this little business we love.

She had seen how much these pieces meant to me. Together, we decided that if we were serious, we needed a name, a brand that showed our love for handmade beauty.

We wrote down many names. Nothing felt right until one short name clicked and felt true to us. That is how Ceramic Birds was born.

A name was only the start. We needed a place to show our things to the world. Instagram felt right, even though neither of us knew it well.

If my sister hadn’t joined, we could never have explored new places to find beautiful products from different shops or brought new vendors on board with us. Her support opened doors I might never have discovered alone.

From Family to Followers: How Ceramic Birds Found Its Online Voice

When we opened our Instagram page, we had exactly three followers, family members who joined out of love. Posting felt awkward at first.
Which photo looked good?
What should the caption say?
What were hashtags for?

My niece helped us a lot. She showed us how to post, how to catch small trends, and how to tell short stories. She taught me Canva so I could make pretty posts. We used to bug her with all our questions, and she used to answer patiently. I was nervous, but soon I started to enjoy it. Now I like to tease her that I am getting better at Canva than she is.

Slowly, people found us. From having just 3 Instagram followers, we are a family of more than 400+ followers, ordering from us now and then, appreciating us and remembering us when they see cute ceramics!!! Everything is covered. From the first little idea to the steady beat of a growing brand, we tried to think of every detail.

Trying New Things

With a little confidence, we began to try new ideas. We placed our pieces in small shops so people could touch and see them.
We also started selling unpainted pieces, for art workshops. People could paint them in their own style and call the finished piece their own.

This idea became special. People liked making something by themselves. It was not just buying a thing, it was making a memory.

The Heart Behind the Brand

Looking back, I see this journey was never only about products.
It was about family and friends and the simple love for handmade things.
It was my mother remembering the crooked lane shop.
It was my sister standing by me when the orders stopped.
It was my niece teaching us how to post a reel.
It was friends who placed the first orders and customers who believed in us when we were new.

Every bowl we pack carries part of that memory.
Each cup reminds me that beauty often starts in small moments, a friend’s visit, a simple question, a childhood memory.

Bringing Handmade Ceramics and Love to Every Home

Today, Ceramic Birds is more than a brand for us. It shows our city’s tradition and creativity. Our Ceramic Birds Instagram family keeps growing, and people cheer for each new product we share. Some customers have been with us since the start, and their messages feel like warm hugs.

We still face challenges. Running a small business means learning something new every day. But each lesson makes us stronger.

Our dream is simple: to bring the beauty of ceramics to more homes, to let people create and paint their own pieces, and to keep alive the love that started in a quiet living room one sunny afternoon.

Ceramic Birds isn’t just a business for us, it’s our family now.
