Art has always been a profound passion in my life. At 80 years old, I have journeyed through various phases of life and creativity.
Hi, I am Chetna Pandya.
Born in India and having spent 30 years in the USA, I am now settled in Mumbai, where I continue to explore my love for painting. Self-taught and driven by an innate desire to create, I have been painting since my youth. My journey in art is a testament to the deep connection I feel with my soul and the world around me.
One of my quotes about art is: “A viewer approaches a painting. The painting greets the viewer. The space between the painting and the viewer is where the spirit world lives. That small space separates us.” This perfectly encapsulates the ethereal dialogue between an artwork and its observer—a mystical space where the spirit world dwells.
In my creative process, I often use a mixture of different mediums. Sometimes, I don’t know what direction my work will take until I sit down and start creating. An initial idea may transform into something entirely unexpected. I am not actively seeking images; they simply manifest and captivate my interest. An object that initially seems mundane can, upon closer inspection, reveal a deeper significance or new utility.My art spans a variety of styles, from landscapes to abstract compositions. Each piece is a reflection of my moods and emotions.
When I paint, it feels as if my soul is meditating, and my heart’s aspirations are unfolding on the canvas. My art is a dance between the illuminating smiles of my soul and the streaming tears of my heart. I specialize in sand art, both embossed and flat on plywood, but I also work with acrylics and textures on canvas. Through my art, I seek to capture the beauty of the earth and the divinity of the heavens. Colors hold a particular fascination for me, as I believe they have the power to affect emotions and inspire people.All my paintings are created using high-quality canvases and paints, and they are coated with varnish to protect them from light and dust, ensuring they provide enjoyment for many years.
