Hello! I’m Nayana Shivashankar, a proud mother of two sons and the founder of Paatashaalaa Preschool — a space that was born out of love, learning, and a lifelong passion for nurturing young minds.

My journey toward founding Paatashaalaa began in the classroom. After completing my Master’s in Science, I started my professional career as a college lecturer. Teaching young adults was fulfilling — it allowed me to share knowledge, build confidence, and witness the joy of understanding light up in someone’s eyes. Those early years as a lecturer taught me the power of connection in education — how every student learns differently, and how a teacher’s presence can make all the difference.

Then life gifted me another beautiful role — that of a mother. Raising my two sons changed my perspective on learning in profound ways. Motherhood opened my heart to new lessons: patience, empathy, and the incredible curiosity children bring to everything they do. While my focus naturally shifted to my family during those years, my passion for teaching never faded. It simply evolved.

As my children grew older, I began to feel a deep pull back toward education — but this time, I wanted to start at the very beginning of the learning journey. I joined a preschool as a teacher, and that experience transformed the way I viewed education. Working with young children was magical. Every day was filled with wonder — their small questions, their creative energy, and their ability to find joy in the simplest things. I realized that the early years are not just about alphabets and numbers — they are about laying the foundation for curiosity, confidence, and emotional growth.
