My Journey
Hi, I’m Smitha Shenoy, a professional website developer and UX designer with a passion for teaching. Hailing from Mangalore, the education hub of Karnataka, I have always admired my professors and teachers. Their dedication inspired me to pursue a career in teaching. My journey began as a Lecturer in Computer Applications at a college in Bangalore. After two years, I transitioned to the IT industry, starting as a Front-End Software Engineer with Misys (now Finastra).
I worked with several organizations, honing my skills in front-end development. However, like many women, balancing a demanding career and motherhood became challenging. Recognizing the energy both roles required, I decided to take a break from my career to focus on my family.
After my break, I ventured into the design field, which allowed me to balance my professional and personal life. I took on marketing and design roles in start-up organizations and began accepting design contracts through my network. This experience allowed me to work with clients from India, Australia, Singapore, and the US across various industry verticals.
With over a decade of experience and years of leading teams, I discovered a new calling—teaching and mentoring others. My colleagues and friends often sought my guidance and appreciated my ability to simplify complex concepts. Their positive feedback encouraged me to consider teaching more seriously.
I began offering free online classes during weekends to anyone interested, initially within my network with the name Brand Architect Community. I taught how to develop your brand online, how to build websites, how to use AI Tools, how to edit videos, how to create user journeys in applications, how to do digital marketing and much more. Word spread, and soon, SME business owners from Dubai, Ireland, Indonesia, and many other countries joined my sessions.
The growing interest in my classes led me to collaborate with my friend Akshata and Sattva Education. Together, we expanded our reach, helping even more people learn and grow. This community has become a source of inspiration and rejuvenation for me, allowing me to return to my regular work with renewed energy and a sense of fulfilment.
Balancing Leadership and Coaching
Currently, I lead a team at Hylobiz -Vayana while continuing my coaching sessions over the weekends. This dual role has enriched my professional life, providing me with the opportunity to apply my skills in both technical and educational domains.
My journey from an IT professional to a passionate coach has been transformative. Each step, from my early days as a lecturer to my current roles, has shaped me into a more empathetic and effective mentor. I am grateful for the opportunity to help others achieve their potential and look forward to continuing this rewarding journey.
